about this workshop

During this workshop we will focus on a landscape and a lake scene painting.

Kasper will demonstrate how to break-down a complex nature scene by simplifying shapes and values to make these a basis for a successful painting.

Over the two days we will be painting two watercolours. The workshop will be based on a 3-part demonstration where Kasper will show his technique and after each part he will assist the students along the way.

We will start each day with a value study of our chosen scene which will serve as a ‘roadmap’ for our actual painting.

The structure of the workshop is mainly through demonstrations and explanations.

Please note this workshop is not suited for beginners.

DURING THESE TWO DAYS YOU WILL LEARN:

- How tonal values influence the mood and depth of your painting
- The importance of connecting shapes in the painting
- How to enhance atmospheric perspective in the landscape
- How to effectively paint water reflections
- The importance of having a focal point in the painting.
- Suggestions where to paint more details and where to be more loose.
- Working with wet-into-wet and dry brush techniques to achieve different effects.
- Techniques to adjusting the final painting by lifting paint in certain areas

All of this and more will be delivered through demonstrations and personalised attention

Meet Kasper

Kasper Zier is an award winning watercolour artist living and working in Dublin. His watercolours are a mesmerising blend of realism and poetry, elevating the mundane into a dreamy quality. Using a masterful combination of clear colours, free expressive brushstrokes, and 'lost and found' edges, Kasper artfully captures the interplay of light on the city's buildings and streets. The end result is a unique painting full of atmosphere and character, carrying his personal touch and creating a lasting impression on the viewer. Kasper is a member of the The Water Colour Society of Ireland
