ABOUT THIS COURSE
Dave’s passion in art is painting the landscape, in particular the endless variations in light and colour that are observed throughout the changing days and seasons. His practice spans both studio painting and Plein-air.
During these ongoing art sessions Dave will guide you on an individual basis to getting the most from your own practice. He will help with choosing a theme for your project, how to develop your ideas into successful compositions and will be on hand to assist with any technical difficulties as your work progress.
Dave favours an ‘alla prima’ or ‘direct’ approach to painting, using a loose impressionistic style. As part of the class Dave will perform a short demonstration each week showing aspects of his process focusing on subjects such as mark making, effective and interesting brushwork, creating design thumbnails, colour palettes and that most difficult of things: how to finish a painting.
This class is not suitable for beginners but would suit anyone that is looking to develop their own ideas and style through the genre of landscape painting hosted by a dedicated landscape painter and experienced tutor.
