ABOUT THIS COURSE

In this painting course Jade will guide you to create a still life painting using oil colours. Learn the traditional technique of layering in oils through a step-by-step process broken down into specific stages with live demonstrations.

SUBSEQUENT LAYERS - Building Colour
FINAL LAYERS - Highlights & Contrasts

Throughout the course, you will focus on one painting, receiving guidance on drawing, painting techniques, and colour mixing using photographic references.

 Whether you’re a beginner or at an intermediate level, this course is designed to cater to your skill set, requiring no prior experience.

Materials needed

·      Taklon Brush Set with variety of sizes (or any brush set suitable for oil paint- but not hog hair)

·      Rigger brush No. 1

·      Canvas 30 x 40 cm

·      Gamsol/ Sansodor

·      Range of oil paints - Titanium White, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Red, Cerulean Blue, Sap Green, Van Dyke Brown.

·      Tablet/ Laptop/ high quality print image to view your photo reference on.

Meet Jade

Graduating from West Wales School of the Arts, Jade Butler is an Irish artist whose practice utilises both still life and portraiture to investigate environmental themes and the relationship between nature, society and capitalism.

Jade has exhibited in annual exhibitions of the Royal Hibernian Academy, the Royal Ulster Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Society of Women Artists. Jade's work is included in several public collections including the collection of The Office of Public Works N.I.
