This two-day workshop is a vibrant introduction to the world of mixed media art, designed to ignite creative exploration through texture, color, layering, and storytelling. Participants will learn to combine various materials and techniques to create expressive and meaningful artworks.
Over the two days you will get an introduction to mixed media and an opportunity to explore it. There will be emphasis on creative freedom, experimentation, and personal expression.
Activities will include:
Mark-making and intuitive exploration using simple materials.
Collage & Composition
Hands-on collage: Magazine clippings, fabric scraps, personal ephemera.
Explore balance, contrast, texture, and layering basics.
Layering & Acrylic Texture Techniques
Adding paint layers using modeling paste, gesso, or textured tools.
Practice using palette knives, scraping tools, and found objects.
Alcohol inks, markers, and doodling for detail and vibrancy. Stenciling & stamping with foam, rubber, and found materials.
Intro to fabric & stitching: Add thread, buttons, ribbons, and texture.
You will be encouraged to create a personal artwork using a combination of techniques (canvas).
Encourage creative risk-taking, storytelling, and personal symbolism.
Group reflection and informal show-and-tell.

Brushes, stencils, stamps, glue
Fabric, thread, ephemera, and more

Meet Karolina
Hello, I'm Karolina, a trained mixed media artist and graphic designer. I'm honoured to be a member of the Design & Craft County Council and the Art Council, with support from the Institute of Designers Ireland through the Design Ireland Association. Notably, I achieved recognition as a finalist in both the Luxembourg Art Awards 2021 and the Canada Art Awards 2022.
My artistic journey began over a decade ago in Ireland and has been marked by a commitment to innovation and the relentless pursuit of artistic excellence. didART studio is a testament to my unwavering passion for pushing creative boundaries, and I eagerly anticipate the continued opportunity to inspire others through my ever-evolving artistic endeavours.
My art is a fusion of unconventional materials, textures, and vibrant colours, resulting in one-of-a-kind and captivating creations. I take immense pride in crafting innovative and well-designed artworks that challenge artistic norms. My creative process is an ever- evolving experiment, and my dedication has earned me numerous awards and accolades, driving me to explore new artistic horizons.
My art has found homes in both private and public collections, enriching spaces with its creativity and allure. From intimate galleries to esteemed public institutions, my work has the privilege of inspiring viewers around the world. I've had the pleasure of creating artwork for the dog of the Irish President and for numerous celebrities' pets worldwide. In addition to my art, I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge and creativity with others. I offer mixed media workshops for children and adults in the local Fingal Area, collaborating with Argillan Castle and The Seamus Ennis Art Centre, as well as hosting workshops in my studio in Swords. Art is not just a profession but a way of life for me, and I relish the opportunity to share it with everyone I meet.
